Carpet removing.

Hello Arnold's friends,
I was forced to remove the carpet from the ceiling. For two days I managed to clear about 1.5 - 2 m2. to metallic shine. First I remove the textile layer - very easy. Then I remove the polyurethane layer very easily with a spatula. But there remains a layer of glue mixed with a piece of carpet that is very hard and stable. I take it off by spraying it with water, wait for it to soften, and then scrape with a spatula.
My questions are whether I need to clean everything to metallic shine , and if so, please would you share your experience?

Best Regards,
J.

Hello Jack,

yes the way is the right one. Make everything beautifully metallic and then glue the new carpet back to the ceiling with carpet glue. it is a sweaty crap.
Any trace of adhesive residue is otherwise expressed and can be seen.

Best Regards
Wolfgang

Thanks, despite the bad news. I will continue. I have not decided yet about a carpet. Tend to put cork panels???
All the best.

Hi Jack,
please no cork panels! I’m afraid that will look very homemade or „bricolage“. You don’t have a Düdo, which you built with your own work. You have a very fine Arnold and this needs a very fine carpet on the ceiling. Okay, perhaps a little bit brighter than the one you removed ...

Carpet

Hi Jack,

If the balance is to be kept original, I would definitely use a short pile carpet with felt backing (textile back)!
Also cork can be used, everyone according to his taste and budget. Quilted leather, cork, carpet, etc. When using a carpet, make sure that no rubber / foam backing is used. Backside should be felty. It's a hassle, but the result is beautiful again for years. The acoustic brake is also significantly higher than cork. I wish you success.

Best regards
Wolfgang
